HBO Renewed "Perry Mason" For Season 2
HBO has decided to extend its detective series "Perry Mason" for a second season. Only five episodes of the first season have aired so far, but their impressive viewership ratings have prompted HBO bosses to secure the release of a sequel. The debut episode of "Perry Mason" attracted an audience of 1.5 million people, standing on the same level with such a hit as WestWorld.
Perry Mason is set in Los Angeles in the early 1930s, during the great depression. This is the story of a low-paid private investigator (Matthew Reese) who barely makes ends meet, is troubled by past war memories, and is going through a painful divorce. In addition to Reese, the lead roles in the series are played by John Lithgow, Shay Whigham, Juliet Rylance, and Tatiana Maslany.
The first season of Perry Mason consists of eight episodes. The remaining three episodes will air on HBO before the end of the summer. Notably, the project's Executive producers include Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey, along with Reese and several other figures. Perry Mason Season 2 release date is yet to be announced.
"It has been an exciting journey to work with the immensely talented team behind PERRY MASON," said Orsi. "Viewers have relished being transported back in time to 1930's Los Angeles each week, and we are thrilled to welcome the show back for a second season."
PERRY MASON debuted as HBO's most-watched series premiere in nearly two years. The first episode has now been seen by 8-million viewers.
