Kanye West Has Registered As A Candidate For President Of The United States
Rap artist Kanye West has registered as a presidential candidate with the Oklahoma state election Commission, according to the data released on Wednesday by the Local Election Commission.
July 15 was the deadline for submitting the necessary documents to register as an independent candidate in Oklahoma. West managed to submit the required documents and pay the registration fee of $35 thousand. According to information on the Election Committee's website, the rapper indicated that he would represent the BDY party (Birthday Party).
This means that at least in Oklahoma, the performer's name will appear on the ballot. According to the Associated Press, pianist jade Simmons and businessman Brock pierce also registered as independent candidates in this state.
At the same time, it is still unclear whether Kanye West will actually participate in the presidential race. On Wednesday, the Internet portal Intelligencer, which is an Appendix to the magazine "New York," claimed that the rapper has already abandoned plans to run for the post of head of state. At the same time, the online publication TMZ last week reported that the rapper's statement about his readiness to compete in the election was caused by an exacerbation of bipolar disorder, which West has been suffering from for more than one year.
The performer's intention to run for President of the United States became known on July 4. West was immediately supported by the head of American companies Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk. However, many experts doubt the rapper's political success, since he entered the presidential race late. In several states, the deadline for an independent candidate to collect the necessary number of signatures to participate in the election has passed.
The 59th US presidential election is scheduled for November 3. The Democratic nominee is expected to be former Vice President Joseph Biden, while the Republican nominee is incumbent President Donald Trump.
