The First Computers With Apple Silicon Processors Revealed
By the end of the year, Apple will release two new MacBooks using its own processors. This is stated in the report of the authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko (Ming-Chi Kuo), MacRumors forum reports.
An insider points out that in the next year, the company will introduce four laptops based on its own Apple Silicon processors. According to the information disclosed by Ko, deliveries of the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro will begin in the fourth quarter, around the same time the MacBook Air will enter the market. In 2021, Apple will update the MacBook Pro line with a diagonal of 14 and 16 inches.
Ming-Chi Ko believes that the cost reduction associated with the transition from Intel processors to Apple Silicon will reduce the base cost of the MacBook Air. At the same time, the specialist does not know about the company's marketing plans and pricing policy in relation to new devices.
The report also says that Apple plans to redesign the line of laptops, but the release of updated devices should not wait until mid-2021. Journalists noted that reducing the thickness of the screen frames of 13.3-inch MacBook Pro will increase the diagonal of the display to 14 inches.
At the WWDC 2020 presentation held in June, Apple announced the rejection of Intel processors in its computers. The company stressed that Apple's own Silicon chips will feature high performance, increased energy efficiency, and better compatibility with hardware and software.
