The EU Will Commit €5 Billion In Case Of Failure Of Negotiations On The Brexit

The head of the European Council proposed to reserve in the community budget for 2021-2027 €5 billion to provide emergency assistance to EU countries in the event of failure of negotiations on a trade agreement with the UK after its exit from the EU (Brexit). The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said this on Friday at a press conference in Brussels.

"I proposed to include an article on emergency assistance in the seven-year budget plan (to the community countries) the maximum amount of €5 billion in the event of Brexit without an agreement," he said.
