Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Met In Court
Johnny Depp, accused of domestic violence by Amber Heard, intends to regain his honest name. With two libel suits. The hearing on the first one began on July 7 at the High court in London. The plaintiff is the actor himself, the defendant is News Group Newspapers, which owns the Sun newspaper, and the publication's editor, Dan Wootton. The reason for the appeal to the court was an article published in April 2018, in which Johnny Depp is accused of abusing his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard. The post is titled: Gone Potty: How can JK Rowling be 'genuinely happy' casting wife-beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?
The former couple met in court on the first day of the hearing. Johnny Depp arrived in the company of his lawyer, David Sherborne, and Amber Heard was supported by her lover Bianca Bootie, her sister Whitney and lawyer Jennifer Robinson. The last two held the actress's hands as they made their way to the courthouse.
The meeting began with the announcement of the plaintiff's position and the questioning of johnny Depp himself. It is worth noting that the actor's defender is strong and well-known: David Sherborne now represents Meghan Markle in her lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday, and before that he worked with Princess Diana, Kate Moss, Elton John, and many other celebrities.
"The plaintiff's position is very clear. Miss heard's accusations are false. The plaintiff did not commit violence against miss heard, while she showed aggression towards him," Sherborne immediately explained, writes the BBC.
After the testimony, Johnny Depp gave. During cross-examination, the actor answered why the couple constantly recorded video and audio of their quarrels (one of these videos, made on September 26, 2015, is considered as physical evidence). Amber Heard explained this during the preparation for the meeting by saying that she wanted to show her ex-husband how he behaves under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Depp has a different version: it was the actress who often forgot what she said in a fit of anger, and then denied what she said.
We also talked about the drug addiction of the star of "Pirates of the Caribbean." Depp admitted that he was addicted to illegal substances at the age of 11, and by 14 had tried all known types of drugs. "My mother sent me to pick up her "nerve pills," so when I was about 11, I finally realized that" nerve pills "were supposed to be soothing, so I drank one. That's how it all started," the actor said.
Depp, the Daily Mail writes, also had to explain why he trashed a hotel room in New York in 1995 in front of Kate moss (the damage was estimated at 10 thousand dollars), and also recall the circumstances of the death of River Phoenix, who died of an overdose at the entrance to the Viper Room nightclub (at that time partially owned by johnny).
During the interrogation, it also became known that the actor gave his daughter Lily-rose to try light drugs when she was 13 years old. In this case, Depp explained "conscious parenting" - they say, it is better if she finds out what it is, under supervision.
The actor denied allegations of domestic violence. He said that he has never had problems with anger management, and considers physical violence against a woman unacceptable. During the interrogation, Depp recalled several cases when Amber Heard herself provoked a fight during an argument, after which he literally had to "run away" from her. "She is calculating and has a borderline personality disorder. She is a sociopath, a narcissist, unable to control emotions, "Depp said. "Now I understand that she came into my life to take everything of minimal value and destroy everything that remains." Johnny added that he wanted to end the relationship with his wife before "things got out of hand."
Prosecution witnesses Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis will also appear in court in the coming days. The hearing is expected to last three weeks.
