Following the success of the first and second seasons of American Crime Story, which focused on the O.J Simpson trial and the death of Gianni Versace, respectively, the true crime series is now focused this time on a political scandal that led to Bill Clintons impeachment. Clinton was the second American president to be impeached at the time.

In a sneak peek video, Booksmarts Beanie Feldstein plays Monica Lewinsky, the White House intern whose relationship with Clinton sparked the impeachment charges against him. Feldstein can be heard saying, The President kissed me. Im in love with him.

Linda Tripp, a Sarah Paulsons Linda Felstein character, is talking to felstein (as Lewinsky), who offers her sage advice. The blue dress, it would be wise to keep that, uncleaned, in your possession, she adds of the garment that became vital evidence. Tripp, Lewinskys close confidante, whose taped notes of their conversations were eventually used in the sexual harassment lawsuit against Clinton, was Trippp s closest confidee. Paula Jones, a former Arkansas state employee, brought he was impeachable in the lawsuit.

The series' production began in late 2020, as revealed by Paulson in September last year, and the series will debut on FX on September 7 for American viewers.

Impeachment will air on BBC Two on Tuesday, October 19, at 9.15 p.m. The series will air for ten consecutive weeks and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer, as well.

Alongside Feldstein and Paulson, Impeachment also stars Closers Clive Owens as Bill Clinton, The Sopranos Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton and Parks and Recreation Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge, who founded news site The Drugg Report, the first outlet to uncover the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.

Lewinsky herself has acted as executive producer on the series. Lewinsky has publicly spoken about the post traumatic stress she endured as a result of the Clinton scandal and has since become swelteringly successful in the fight against bullying and cyberbullying.

Ryan Murphy, who is a producer, made her decision to join the production team. After winning the rights to Jeffrey Toobins A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President in 2018, he was considering reconsidering his options. He told her that nobody should tell your story other than you, and it's kind of disgusting if they do. When Lewinsky was at a party, he told them, Nobody else should know your tale than yourself, so it is kinda gross. I would love that; but you should be the producer and make all the goddamn money, he told Hollywood Reporter.

Given the proximity to a key player in the scandal, its possible that this season of American Crime Story will replicate the success of its predecessors.
