The Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks meet on Sunday, Oct. 17. The game will be live streamed on fuboTV.
Ben Roethlisberger is encouraged to participate. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, however, isn't certain that his team's early offensive failures are in the rearview mirror.
Yes, there were signs of improvement last week against Denver. Najee Harris ran with what is now his trademark fury as he attempted to capture the victory. As the Steelers ended a three-game losing streak, the offensive line allowed its 39-year-old quarterback to look downfield.
Still, it was just four-fourths of competence. Pittsburgh (2-3) will face injury-hit Seattle (2-3) on Sunday night in the AFC North. Roethlisberger is well aware that more must be done if he wants to get back into the race.
Seattle is in last place in a highly competitive division, just like the Steelers. Contrary to the Steelers, the Seahawks will have to deal with things without their best player.
Russell Wilson has been out for several weeks while he recovers from surgery on his right hand's middle finger. Geno Smith will make his first start in nearly four years, while the Seahawks will play their first game without Wilson since 2011.
Having the NFLs worst defense make a big leap forward would be helpful. The days of the Legion of Boom have come to an end, and a new generation is being replaced by fewer fall down, go boom. In each of its past four games, Seattle has allowed at least 450 yards, tying an NFL record.

What TV channel will broadcast the game?
The Steelers-Seahawks game will be broadcast on NBC.
QUESTION FOR CARSON Considering the possibility of Smith being under center for a full game, the Seahawks could use the return of running back Chris Carson, who missed last week with shinitis due to recurring neck pain.
Carson has yet to feature in a major game this season, partly due to sluggish attempts. Carson carried 16 times in Week 1 against Indianapolis and hasnt gone over 13 passes in his previous three appearances. Alex Collins is a proven, capable backup who ran for 47 yards on 15 carries against the Rams, but hes not Carson, who had 87 yards of total offense in Seattle s 28-26 victory at Heinz Field in 2019.
REPLACING JUJU The Steelers have injury problems of their own. JuJu Smith-Schuster will miss the rest of the season after suffering a shoulder injury against the Broncos. The fifth-year veteran has matured into a reliable third-down option for Roethlisberger and is one of the leagues best downfield blockers.
Smith-Schuster gave a young wide receiver group - perhaps even more important -- an unquestioned leader. Chase Claypool, James Washington, Diontae Johnson, and Dionontee Smith will have to find a way forward without him, while Roethlisberger will need to look for re-election opportunities elsewhere.
JuJun is one of those guys who isnt afraid of contact, Roethlisberger stated. But youve got to be built for it as well, and he is. Always was a physical guy that set the pace, so hopefully, other guys will just follow suit.
THE LAST TIME: Wilson has been an integral part of the Seahawks' defense for every regular season and playoff game since the beginning of 2012. The first time the starting QB for Seattle wasnt named Wilson was on Jan. 1, 2012, when the Seahawks lost 23-20 at Arizona in Week 17 to finish one of two seasons in Carrolls tenure where they didn not make the playoffs.
Tarvaris Jackson, the QB that day, ran 21 of 35 for 222 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the overtime loss to Tarvars.
NAJEES NEXT STEP Harris had his 100-yard game with 122 yards against the Broncos, his first 100 yards of his career. Those numbers might have been even higher if it wasnt for a bout with cramps in the fourth quarter that forced him to watch Pittsburghs final drive from the sideline.
Harris suffered from cramps at times during his career at Alabama, blaming the problem on the humidity in the south and east, which he didnt deal with while growing up in Northern California.
Maybe, but the Steelers need him to be available in crucial situations.
Were continuing to do that, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said. Weve just got to do it a little better, but I will admit that he had fewer carries in that game (a season-high 23 catches) than erroneously so, and so well continue to adjust and find our footing there.
