Alabama's time outside the top four of the coaches poll lasted only one week.
The Tide moved up from No. 5 to No 4 in Sundays AFCA coaches poll and Associated Press poll, after previously being No 5 in the poll. Iowa, which lost to Purdue, dropped out of the top 10 after being eliminated.
Alabama defeated Mississippi State 49-9 in Starkville on Saturday night.
In either poll, only one of Alabama's remaining opponents is currently ranked. Auburn is No. 22 in the coaches poll and No 19 in AP poll. This week, Arkansas was withdrawn from the polls.
The first College Football Playoff rankings will be released on November 2.
