Daniel Jones, Joe Judge, and Joe Richter are the right guys for this franchise. Maybe not ...

The old Giants took to the field on Sunday, celebrating their 2011 Super Bowl crown.

MetLife Stadium was only half full by this time. Many of the Giants fans, having just booed the current, hapless Giant team off the field, didnt bother staying for the halftime ceremony. Can you blame them?

They probably didnt want another reminder of how long its been since this franchise was a success and how miserable most of this past decade has been.

Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning were that team's top coaches and quarterbacks. After Sundays disappointing 38-11 loss to the Rams, itll be interesting to see if the Giants have that in Joe Judge and Daniel Jones?

The Giants may not, given how terrible Jones looked Sunday, when the Giant offense trailed 38-3 until 6:21 remained in the game. Jones completed 29 of 51 passes for 242 yards and a 44.7 quarterback rating (the second-worst of his career). Jones had ranked third in his class after completing ten passes, with three interceptions, and had four turnovers, which included three interceptions.

The Giants are 1-5, yet another lost season. They're all toasted. These final 11 games will determine whether Judge and Jones are the right guys for this stale franchise. How can John Mara, who is also John's co-owner, possibly state they are?

Game 4 on Sunday was over at halftime Rams 28, Giants 3. It was more the same for the Giants too many turnovers, an incompetent offensive line, big plays allowed by the defense, and so on.

The Giants are now 7-15 under Judge. Theyve gone 19-51 since their last winning season, 2016. In September and October, theyre now 6-30. Dave Gettleman, general manager, is well on his way to a firing. Judge, if this keeps on spiraling, what will you do a second time? In the end, hell most likely be able to perform this season, though the jury (forgive the pun) is still out on him.

Forget about the Giants regaining control of the NFC East this season. Washington wont be able to claim this division this year, just like it did last year. The Cowboys are 5-1 after Sunday's win over New England, so they'll most likely be able to get away with it now that they have a three-game lead over Washington and the Eagles.

So the Giants are once again in evaluate-for-future mode.

Jones, in his third season, has a long way to go before they have more definitive answers. He appeared pretty good in his first five games this season. But his first half Sunday was a disappointment 11-of-24 passing, 91 yards, two interceptions, an intercepted pass, and he had sat out.4 quarterback rating.

One of his interceptions resulted in a 14-yard touchdown drive. The fumble, which involved a strip sack on which left tackle Matt Peart was easily beat, resulted in oblique 12-yard touchdown drive. The Giants closed the half with a 25-yard touchdown pass. Ball game.

Jones has now started 32 games, and the Giants are 9-23 in his starts. Yes, the Rams arrived in New Jersey on Sunday with Pro Football Focus' fourth-rated defense (and No. 5 offense). Still, this was an inexcusably poor performance from a third-year quarterback.

Kadarius Toney and Andrew Thomas werent hurt and weren't able to participate Sunday, despite the absences of Saquon Barkley, Darius Slayton, and Kenny Golladay nor by Kaadar Toy and Andy Thomas getting hurt but not returning. But it was one of Jones' happiest games and hes had some notable defeats.

Mannings heir, Jones, was supposed to be Jones. Because of Gettlemans poor roster building a shaky resume that might see Jones as merely slipping in - itd be foolish to think the Giants could win if Jones were to make his fourth Super Bowl appearance, as they did with Manning.

Mara, who hired Gettleman and Judge, was nowhere to be seen on the field at halftime Sunday. Fans couldnt unleash their fury and boos on him during this ceremony, as they did last month during Mannings jersey retirement.

Coughlin and Manning walked out of Sundays ceremony together, carrying the Lombardi Trophy, with Manninger taking the trophy. Fans who decided to soak up the nostalgia were likely groaning, too. Because this was yet another reminder that the Giants have only made the playoffs once since 2011, with no postseason triumphs.

Coughlin spent most of his halftime ceremony speech recapping details of that 2011 season scores of games, records of opponents the Giants beat as if it was so long ago that fans needed to be reminded of what happened.

Its easy to forget, isnt it? Septembers and Octobers like this will do that to a fan base, putting it into numbness, amid so many defeats.

1-5 and it could get worse against the Panthers and Chiefs in the next two weeks if things don't improve - joins the Giants' shaky starts from the past four seasons. There were 1-8 in 2017 (finished 3-13), 1-7 in 2018 (5-11), 2-11 in 2019 (4-12), and 1-17 last season (6-10).

On, reaching new depths so low that 10 years feels like a lifetime.
