At around 2 a.m., Clark County Sheriffs deputies shot and killed an armed person after he was injured during savage pursuit after turning oblivious to policing. The sheriffs office said Sunday morning that the incident occurred around 11:15 am.

The sheriffs office says the person was arrested for assault with a handgun because of probable cause and that officers had proper cause" to arrest him. As a result, the car was forced to stop near the intersection of Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast 49th Street in Vancouver, as part of scouting.

After he or she left the car, officers or an officer shot the person, according to the sheriffs office. The sheriffs office stated the person was armed with a handgun and failed to follow orders from deputies.

The sheriffs office did not identify the person who was shot or give any further details about the shooting.

The Southwest Washington Regional Independent Investigation Team is conducting an investigation into the shooting.
