'Law & Order: SVU':Octavio Pisano Has Returned To Series Regular On NBC Drama Series

More of Octavio Pisano will be revealed on Law & Order: SVU. Detective Joe Velasco, played by Pisano, has been promoted to series regular on the NBC procedural.

Joe Velasco, a former undercover and detective under Chief McGrath (Terry Serpico), has been assigned to the SVU. Pisano has appeared in 3 episodes so far, beginning with the season 23 premiere.

Catalina Machado (Zabryna Guevara) was arrested for trafficking single mothers in shelters in a complex housing-for-sex scheme shortly after last seasons finale, when she was spotted trying to sell them single mother-to-be in an apartment in the middle of shambles. She now wants to flip on her superiors in exchange for a deal with the feds, and names shrewd congressman as the big fish. Its a decisive case for the NYPD and puts enormous pressure on the entire SVU squad to get convicted.

The promotion of Pisano follows the recent departures of two key cast members Jamie Gray Hyder, who played Officer Kat Tamin, and Demore Barnes, which played Deputy Chief Christian Garland.

Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: SVU follows the lives of the Special Victims Unit of New York City Police Department, an elite team of detectives that investigate crimes of sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence.

Ice T, Peter Scanavino, and Kelli Giddish also appear.

Law & Order: SVU is TV's longest-running primetime live-action series. It will be renewed for a three-year term in 2020, continuing until Season 24.

Special Victims Unit is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment. Dick Wolf is a writer and executive producer. Executive producers Warren Leight, Julie Martin, Hargitay, Norberto Barba, Arthur Forney, and Peter Jankowski are also on the show.

Pisano starred alongside Michael Chiklis in the CBS All Access limited series Coyote. He was also cast in the pilot for the Dick Wolf-produced New York Undercover reboot and Tyler Perrys If Loving You Is Wrong. Ms Purple, directed by Justin Chon (Blue Bayou), Badsville, Powder & Gold, and Smartass are just a few of Pisanos film credits. Carissa Stewart, CEO of GSA Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman are all agents for Pisano.
