State police identify man shot, killed by fugitive team, as a suspect in the case
David Schumann, 40, of Barry County, Michigan, was shot and killed by a fugitive team in Barry county.
Schumann is wanted for absconding from parole, according to police.
The shooting took place around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the 9200 block of Lindsey Road in Barry Countys Orangeville Township, in The 9100 Block of Linda Road. Schumann, who was driving with a female passenger, was being tracked by the fugitive team, according to police.
When police approached his vehicle, he made an edged weapon and it became a hostage situation, state police said in spokesman.
Multiple shots were fired by a state police detective sergeant and statewide Department of Corrections officer. Schumann died at the scene.
The woman was injured.
Candidate for Muskegon Heights City Council says he was convicted of a felony in connection with the conviction.
