Tanner Byrd, PCA Anthony Rogers, Pike Roads Anthony R. Roger, and Tannar Byred were honored in Montgomery on Tuesday
The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for the Oct. 8th weekend.
Anthony Rogers from Pike Road is the Public School Player of the Week, while Tanner Byrd from Prattville Christian Academy is also the Private School Players of The Week. Players will be presented their awards at their respective schools by members of the Clubs Board of Directors at the convenience of their team's head coach. Due to COVID, the Quarterback Club is unable to hold weekly meetings this season.
Rogers, a freshman fullback, ran for 137 yards on 6 carries with 3 touchdowns in Pike Roads 56-27 victory over Headland. Rogers also had an 18-yard touchdown pass and recorded 45 yards in kick returns. Pike Road is 7-0 on the season and has a week off before playing at Greenville on Oct. 22. The Patriots are ranked No. 1 in Class 5A.
In Prattville Christians 28-18 victory over Central Hayneville, sophomore quarterback Byrd ran for 131 yards on 15 carries with 2 touchdowns. Byrd also rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown and had, in addition, thrown for 22 yards for. On the defensive end, he had 4 tackles, 3 pass break ups and forced one fumble. Prattville Christian is 2-5 on the season and plays at Monroe County this week.
