SU-30 Flew To Intercept US Reconnaissance Aircraft Over Neutral Waters Of The Black Sea

The Defense Ministry of Russia reported that the crew of the Russian fighter identified the scouts as a US Navy p-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft, an RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft, and a US air force KC-135 tanker aircraft.

A Russian su-30 fighter jet of the black sea fleet was lifted into the air on Friday to intercept us air force reconnaissance aircraft over the neutral waters of the Black Sea, according to the Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation.

"On June 26, the air defense forces on duty in the southern military district promptly revealed the actions of us air force reconnaissance aircraft over the neutral waters of the Black sea and escorted them by a Russian fighter. To intercept the targets, a su-30 fighter jet of the black sea fleet was lifted into the air from the air defense forces on duty in the southern military district," the military Department said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the crew of the Russian fighter identified the scouts as a US Navy p-8A Poseidon patrol plane, an RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft, and a US air force KC-135 tanker aircraft, which immediately changed the flight direction away from the Russian state border.

"The flight of the Russian combat aircraft took place in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace," the military Department stressed.

The Ministry noted that after completing the task, the Russian fighter jet returned safely to its home airfield.

According to the Ministry of defense, the actions of us air force reconnaissance aircraft were continuously accompanied by Russian radar controls at a significant distance from the state border of the Russian Federation.
