Vote for Flint-area Athlete of the Week for Oct. 5-11

In the latest Flint-area high school Athlete of the Week poll, we've got nine candidates.

The poll will remain open until 6 p.m. The results will be released the next morning on Oct 18th.

As always, no prize will be awarded to the winner and voting will not affect postseason awards.

Please be patient if your vote does not appear immediately on the poll. It may take a few minutes for the poll to update itself, but all votes will be counted. They are always the case.

Now, lets look at the candidates of this week.

Ashton Hesson, Grand Blanc tennis, Ashtons Heisson is a former champion at Grand Prix tennis.

In a Division 1 regional hosted by the Bobcats, Hesson won the No. 1 singles title. He defeated Port Huron Northerns Charley Dunkel 6-0, 5-0.

Jeremy Williams, Lapeer cross country coach, tries to emulate a rising star in the sport.

Williams finished in 15:27.20 in the boys race in The Greater Genesee County Cross Championships.

Caeden Rossell, Goodrich soccer, Caiden Rosselell.

Rossell scored both goals in a 2-2 draw with Genesee Christian and both in an 2-1 victory over Clio.

Ethan Dudek, Flushing tennis player, Eth Dudde,

Dudek defeated White Lake Lakelands Logan Hayes 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 to win No. 3 singles in the Division 2 regional at Fenton.

Brady McArdle, Davison cross country team, Brady McNAig, and Brady McCAshAardles,

McArdle finished second in the Greater Genesee County Cross Country Championships with a time of 15:47.98.

Lola Thomas, Grand Blanc cross country team, Lolo Thomas

Thomas finished second in the girls portion of the Greater Genesee County Cross Country Championships with a time of 18:45.06.

Parker DeLange, Lapeer soccer

In a 4-3 victory over Waterford Kettering, the Lightning freshman scored two goals while adding an assist. He also had an assist in a 2-0 victory over Carman-Ainsworth and scored once in an 3-0 victory against Mount Pleasant.

Calvin Curtis, Fenton soccer, Calvin Kurtiis

Curtis scored two goals and added one assist in a 6-2 victory over Flushing, while also bagging the Tigers lone goal in Detroit Catholic Central's 2-1 loss.

Luke Trotter, Grand Blanc tennis player,

Trotter won the No. 3 singles title in the regional Grand Blanc hosted. Jacob Sunderman of Holt defeated Jacob Ruppert of Hunt 6-3, 6-4.
