Two of America's most exciting restaurants are in Portland, according to the New York Times
Two of Americas most vibrant and delicious restaurants in 2021 are located in Portland, according to the New York Times in a national list released Tuesday.
After 19 months of COVID restrictions, the Times is most excited about visiting 50 restaurants on the unranked list, which includes both old and new. Coquine, Katy Millard, and Ksandek Podbielskis chic Mount Tabor-side restaurant, as well as Eem, a cocktail-fueled blend of Thai and Texas barbecue, were featured in the Portland paper.
In 2016, and 2019, respectively, The Oregonian/OregonLive named Coquine and Eem as The Restaurants of the Year.
The Seattle Times chose three restaurants: the Filipino chefs counter Archipelago, the sophisticated Seattle soul spot Communion, and the inventive Korean den Paju.
Where would you have sent the New York Times crew? For the sisig at Magna? St. Jack's Pt en croute? Omas Hideway offers an Indo-Chinese roast pork belly? Quesadillas trampled by salsa matcha at Republica? Toki serves crispy Korean chicken wings topped with dusted ramen essence. A trip to Seattles Canlis to sample chef Aisha Ibrahim's new menu?
The 50 states in America were most excited about right now are the 50 most exciting locations in the country.
Coquine is Portlands 2016 Restaurant of the Year.
Eem is Portlands 2019 Restaurant of the Year.
