Adele's '30' Album Announcement Included A Message About Grief
When Adele released 25 in 2015, she was happily married to Simon Konecki, and their son, Angelo, was still a toddler. Granted, we hadnt yet lived through Trumps term or the ongoing global epidemic, and neither Billie Eilish nor Olivia Rodrigo had become a household name, let alone released any music. In the last six years, a lot has changed. Angelo, 33, is now eight years old and Angela is divorcing. After weeks of speculation, Adele has finally announced the release date of her new album, 30, which she claims will tell the story of what happened since listeners last heard from her.
On Oct. 13, Adele shared the official 30 album artwork: a photo of the musicians side profile and her first full-color album cover. Alongside the photo, she announced that 30 will be released on Nov. 19, and she also included an extended note that read, I was certainly nowhere near where Id hoped to be when I started it almost 3 years ago. Quite the opposite, actually. I always have. I rely on routine and consistency to feel secure. It was like throwing myself in a maze of total chaos and inner turmoil, knowingly, and willingly.
Along the process, she added, Ive discovered a lot of baffling truths about myself. Ive shed many layers, but I have also wrapped myself in new ones. Discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like Ive found my feeling. Id even go so far as to say I havent felt more peaceful in my life. Im finally ready to release this album.
Adele described the album as a generous, comforting, and supportive friend, noting that 30 was her ride or die during the most tumultuous period in her life. My wise friend who always gives the best advice. Not to forget the one whos wild and says Itll be your Saturn return, babes, you only live once, she wrote, noting that 30 provided a friendship that encouraged her to leave her home for some vitamin D at her lowest moments and practice self-care.
The friend who checked in on me no matter what, even though Id stopped checking in with them because I'd become so consumed by my own grief, she said. Since then, Ive spent a lot of time restoring my house and my heart, and this album tells it. Home is where the heart is.
Adeles new single Easy On Me will be released on Friday, Oct. 15. Ahead of the album release, the singer newest single, Isnt That Easy For Me, will debut on Oct 15. The entire tracklist for 30 is yet to be revealed, though a recent Vogue interview revealed that the album features contributions from Max Martin, Shellback, Ludwig Gransson, Tobias Jesso Jr., Inflo, and Greg Kurstin.
Following the official announcement of 30, fans quickly saw the hashtag #Adele30 trending on Twitter. One fan wrote, Adele is gonna have me crying over a divorce Ive never had. Adeles albums take us on a personal nostalgic journey of her life and itll be so surreal to be on the same journey with her, wrote another.
