Every release date, price, and feature rumor we've heard about Apple's AirPods 3: Every Apple earbuds release, release and rumors
Apple's second fall event of 2021 will take place on Oct. 18 (here' s how you can watch it live), but will the long-rumored AirPods 3 finally make an appearance? Although Apple's updated earbuds didn't debut alongside the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch 7 at the tech giant'' September event, speculation suggests the AirPods 3 may be available before the end of the year.
The AirPods 3 are said to be similar to the Airpods Pro in appearance and audio performance, as do the airPod's pro and Airbud'' max. Some earlier reports suggested that the AirPods 3 would have other features with the $249 Airpods Pro, such as a shorter stem, interchangeable tips, and fewer charging ports. Leaked pictures seem to support those rumours. Here's everything you need to know about the rumored AirPods 3.

AirPods 3 may look more like the Airpods Pro, but it may be more similar to the Pro AirPads 3.
So far, we've had two generations of regular AirPods, the wireless earbuds with a long stem that sticks down from your chin. According to a February leak from 52audio, the third-generation earbuds have fewer stems, making the overall design more like the AirPods Pro. The buds in the leaked image appear to have an open shape, unlike the standard AirPods, with no silicone tips.
The AirPods 3 may borrow the interchangeable ear-tip design from the Airpods Pro to provide a more snug fit than the current Air pods, which simply rest in your thigh. Einige wearers reported that regular AirPods would fall out easily while moving around or running, so tips can help ensure a more secure fit. While the AirPods Pro have clickable stems, the airPod pods 3 may have touch surfaces for interacting with the earbuds.
The image below, which appears to show the AirPods 3 in the real world, was shared by Twitter user LeaksApplePro. They look like the 52audio image, which shows earbuds with shorter stems.
According to Bloomberg, the AirPods 3 may have a design similar to the airPod Pro, with the exception of active noise cancellation for the entry-level Airpods. So far, it's unclear whether the AirPods 3 will have transparency mode, a way to pipe in external sounds to make you more aware of your surroundings.

Will the AirPods 3 have spatial audio capability?
That's the rumor. With the release of iOS 14 on the AirPods Pro and later on Airpods Max, spatial audio uses accelerometers and gyroscopes to create a virtual surround sound effect when watching supported movies or TV shows and listening to music on an iPhone or iPad.
According to 52audio, battery life for the second-generation AirPods would be the same, with about five hours in total. As it now stands, the case would be subject to additional costs. In leaked images, the case appears to split the difference between the more square AirPods and the rectangular Airpods Pro cases.
As for the sound quality, there's no word on what to expect, although it'd be possible to see improvements in fidelity over regular AirPods, such as better bass response. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who had a long history of Apple rumours, stated in june that the AirPods 3 would be equipped with dozens of similar features to the Pro, which may mean audio quality would match up.
AirPods and Airpods Pro features, such as quick switching, will be available to the Air pods 3.

When will AirPods 3 be released?
As previously reported, the AirPods 3 weren't unveiled at Apple's Sept. 14 event, where the iPhone 13, iPads, and Apple Watch 7 were unpacked.
Since Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June, we've been on the lookout for the new AirPods. The AirPods 3 could be released in autumn, possibly as early as October, since Apple is set to host its second fall event on Oct. 18. Rumors from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and DigiTimes also claim that the AirPods 3 will be released before the end of the year.
While it makes sense for the AirPods 3 to be priced at the same $159 as the current Airpods, if Apple opts not to have a version with e-mail charging case, the new Air pods may very well cost $199 with wireless charging as an option (as it does with the Pro). Kuo suggests that the AirPods 3 may be more expensive than its predecessor, considering Apple is expected to continue selling the airPod 2 after releasing the upgrade. But Kuo was wrong when he said the AirPods 3 would be announced on Sept. 14, and il should have noted that at $199, they would cost the same as the current Airpods with the wireless charging case.
