Dave Bautista Explains Why He Is More Than Just His Appearance: I May Look Like That Guy, But Im Not That Man
Dave Bautista is doing interviews as the premiere of Dune approaches and the former wrestler has been opening up about his desire to be a big actor in Hollywood, but not the way you think. Dune will be Bautistas second collaboration with director Denis Villeneuve after appearing in Blade Runner 2049, where he switched the script on being the muscle-bound heavy with a quiet, soulful performance. Until it wasnt.
Bautista discussed early career mistakes while discussing Money Matters with Mens Health, including blowing cash as quickly as he earned it.
Bautista said, I wasted all that money." I couldve done a lot of good things with that money. I couldve helped people; Id have helped animals. But, honestly, I was miserable and I just wanted to buy happiness.
The Rock and John Cena, on the other hand, have remained close to Bautista's heart, and he has since become increasingly vocal about it. Via Mens Health:
When he finishes work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Bautista has stated that his time with the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be over, and according to what is known, the actor is determined to avoid being trapped in action roles like Cena and The Rock. Instead, Bautista wants to make thoughtful, subtle appearances that highlight his versatility.
I want to be that guy that makes people cry, who makes them think, and who inspires people, he told JoBlo back in April. I want to be a dramatic actor. I just love it. I love acting.
