First Teaser For The Pierre Morel Action Pic From The UAE-Shot
AGC International and Image Nation Abu Dhabi have released a slick first teaser trailer for Al Kameen (The Ambush), which follows retribution by emirates trapped by rebels in 'a mountainous valley'. According to producers, the film is the largest Arabic-language film ever made in the Gulf, with 400 cast and crew, including an all-Emirati lead cast. Marwan Abdulla Saleh, Khalifa Al Jassem, and Mohammed Ahmed were all shot in the UAE. The film was produced by AGC Studios and Image Nation Abu Dhabi and directed by Pierre Morel (Taken), with producers Derek Dauchy (Roman J Israel, Esq.) and Jennifer Roth (Black Swan). Brandon Birtell (Furious 7) and Kurtis Birtel (Medal of Honour) wrote this piece in collaboration with the soldiers involved in the real-life 2018 ambush that inspired the plot. Hana Kazim, Talal Al Asmani, Aliwiya Thani and Alia Al Qamzi were among a team of Emirati filmmakers and cultural consultants at Image Nation Abu Dhabi. The film will be released later this year in the UAE and the surrounding regions.
Studiocanal has announced a sale agreement with NBCU.
Studiocanal has terminated its long-term distribution agreement with NBCUniversal, regaining rights to movies such as Terminator 2, Mulholland Drive, and the Bridget Jones Trilogy. Studiocanal will begin handling the direct sale of more than 200 films from January, after a 20-year partnership with the US distributor. The move comes at a time when many global channels and platforms are seeking dozens of high-end theatrical titles, according to Juliette Hochart, Studiocanals EVP Library.
