Japanese Defense Ministry Is Investigating A Possible Leak Of Data On Missile Development
The Japanese Defense Ministry is investigating a possible leak of data on missile development after a hacker attack on Japanese electronics manufacturer Mitsubishi Electric. This was stated on Wednesday at a press conference in Tokyo by the General Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers, Yoshihide Suga.
"The Department of defense is conducting a thorough investigation as to whether a possible data leak could have affected security," he said.
The Asahi newspaper reported on Wednesday that attackers could have gained access to the performance characteristics of hypersonic missiles that the Japanese Ministry of defense sent to several companies in order to further create a prototype. Mitsubishi Electric was also on the list of bidders for the tender, but, according to the publication, it ultimately did not receive the order.
