The Ambassador Of China In Israel Found Dead At His Home
Chinese Ambassador to Israel Du Wei was found dead on Sunday on the outskirts of Tel Aviv in a house that he occupied, the BBC reported, citing a statement from a police representative.
The cause of the death of the 57-year-old diplomat is not officially reported. At the same time, the Israeli TV channel Channel 12 reported that the Ambassador died in his sleep from natural causes.
Du Wei was appointed Ambassador and arrived in Israel in February this year. Previously, he represented China in Ukraine.
As the BBC notes, on Friday, May 15, the Chinese Embassy in Israel reacted angrily to criticism of US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo, who during his visit to Israel negatively commented on Beijing's steps to combat the coronavirus.
The Chinese Embassy in the Jerusalem Post called Pompeo's statements absurd and again rejected suspicions that China is hiding the true scale of the epidemic in its country.
