"Harsh Tourist" From Minsk Decided To Run For President Of Belarus
Minsk resident Vitaly Zelkovsky, known on the Internet as a "harsh tourist" and "harsh Belarusian," announced his intention to run for President of Belarus.
On his page in the social network "Vkontakte" Zelkovsky said that he wrote an application to the CEC for registration as a presidential candidate. As proof, the Minsk resident attached a screenshot of the statement dated May 11.
Zelkovsky works in the field of IT, he became popular on the Internet as a meme for his manner of being photographed at world attractions with a serious face.
As of May 11, more than 10 potential candidates announced their intention to run for President of Belarus.
In particular, they include the current President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko, Chairman of the liberal democratic party and MP Oleg Gaidukevich, former head of the high-tech Park (HTP) Valery Tsepkalo, co-Chairman of the public Association "Tell the truth" Andrey Dmitriev, former presidential candidate Nikolai Statkevich, Chairman of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Gramada (BSDG) Sergey Cherechen, Belarusian blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky, Vitebsk entrepreneur Vladimir Provalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Association of cargo carriers "Region 8" Natalia Kisel.
The Belarusian parliament has scheduled the next presidential election to be held on August 9, 2020.
