The First Hotels Started Opening On The Coast Of Spain
On the Spanish coast of the Costa Blanca, the first hotels have begun to open, but tourists are not expected until at least the end of June, according to the newspaper Euro Weekly News on Friday.
"Hotels in popular cities of the Costa Blanca, such as Benidorm, Alicante, and Elche, have started to resume work as part of the program announced by the Spanish government to get out of quarantine. At first, they will accommodate employees who need housing. Tourists are not expected until at least the end of June or the beginning of July, " the newspaper writes.
In Benidorm, where the number of hotel places is second only to Madrid and Barcelona, the 4* La Estacion hotel will be the first to receive guests. It will resume operation on May 18. The 3* Campaniles hotel in Alicante will start operating on May 11. At the same time, the Savoy 2* guest house in Alcoy, which now houses medical staff, will give one floor for commercial activities.
The Ibis hotel in Alicante, the 3* Tryp hotel in Elche and the Pensimar hostel in El Alteta are also scheduled to reopen in the coming weeks.
Hotels in Spain have been closing since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. As of May 8, 221.5 thousand cases and 26 thousand deaths were confirmed in the country.
