Facebook And Google Have Allowed Employees To Work Remotely Until The End Of The Year
Facebook and Google have declared that they will allow employees who can work from home to stay in this mode at will until the end of 2020, BBC News reports. Both companies will start opening their offices but will continue to adhere to a flexible schedule.
Facebook will start opening offices on July 6. The company has not yet decided which employees will be offered to return there. The representative of the company noted that the situation is changing and the decision to return to the office or not will be made by employees and their families.
Previously, Facebook employees received bonuses of $1000 for working from home.
Google was previously going to return employees from the removal on June 1 but now changed their minds.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the return to the offices is planned from July, subject to strict security measures on the ground. He added that most employees who can fully work from home will be allowed to stay there until the end of the year.
Already in late February, Facebook decided to cancel a major software developer conference that was supposed to take place in early May in San Jose.
In mid-April, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg announced that major events involving more than 50 people will be canceled by the end of June 2021, and employees will be allowed to remain on the remote site at will until the end of the summer.
