MILAN, Sept 30, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi promised activists at the G20 summit in Rome that they would speak up to accelerate the pledge of $100 billion per year for vulnerable nations in order to mitigate the impacts of climate change, according to Ugandan delegate Vanessa Nakate.

Nakate, Greta Thunberg, and Comparelli, a Swedish rapper, met Draghi in tuesday's private meeting, before the premier and president of the G20 spoke in front of thousands of other activists at the Youth4Climate conference in Milan.

"I hope Draghi will fulfill his promises," Nakate stated on the sidelines of the conference.

Italy, which hosts the COP26 U.N. climate summit in November, also holds the G20 presidency, and is co-hosting the climate conference.
