A wanted former Russian state Duma Deputy Andrey Murga arrested in Spain
The Spanish Civil Guard detained a former state Duma Deputy. This was reported on Friday, May 1, by Spanish law enforcement agencies.
The name of the detainee is not given, he was wanted by Interpol, the service said in a statement published on its Twitter page. The man is suspected of embezzlement of budget funds.
The former parliamentarian was arrested in the seaside province of Alicante, where he led a comfortable lifestyle, the Civil Guard said.
On the frames posted on the Network, Spanish law enforcement officers showed the procedure for detaining and examining the Russian.
According to local newspaper El Mundo, the detainee is Andrey Murga. From 2011 to 2013, he was a member of the Russian State Duma, and from 2013 to 2018, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Stavropol territory.
In the summer of 2019, the former MP was put on the international wanted list. Spanish law enforcement officers received a Russian arrest warrant for Murga.
The Civil Guard found that the wanted Russian settled in a small town in Alta Marina in Alicante, where he was engaged in real estate investments.
In February 2019, Badri Adanay, a Russian man wanted by Interpol, was detained in Belarus at the Minsk national airport. He was sentenced in absentia by a French court to 10 years in prison for legalizing criminal proceeds and committing crimes as part of an organized group.
