Tom Hanks is a professional actor who hopes to become a Harvard University graduate in 2023. He encouraged them to utilize their "special abilities and abilities" to "fight the never-ending struggle for truth, for justice, and for the American way."
Tom compared the 2023 graduates to Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes. "The truth to some is no longer empirical," the two-time Academy Award winner said, pointing out the current state of affairs.
"Imagery is constructed with audacity, with the intention of accomplishing the primary objective or compromising the truth with shady logic." He continued, "Now literally you cannot believe your eyes and your ears will help others lie to you."
Tom realizes that the self-administered world he described may be appealing to many, but he argued that truth is even more beautiful. “Truth feeds up in the high country, as distant as serenity yet as certain as the North Star and the Southern Cross,” he said.
Tom reminded the 2023 Harvard students that truth, honesty, and transparency are all possible on a national level if they are willing to stand up for what is right. "Those who accept liberty and freedom for all; those who won't; or those who are indifferent," he added.
The difference in how truely you believe and how vociferously you promote and how tightly you hold to the self-evident truth in the never-ending battle you have all officially joined as of today,' said the Elvis actor.
"The responsibility is yours. Ours." Tom added. However, the truth, the truth is unalterable. "Chseled into the stone and the foundation of our republic."
