A New Feature Appeared In WhatsApp Due To Coronavirus
WhatsApp messenger has a new feature. Now up to eight people can participate in group video and audio calls, according to the company's official blog.
WhatsApp said that because of the quarantine measures imposed during the coronavirus pandemic, people around the world have started using the messenger more often than ever. Group calls are especially popular, so the company decided to double the maximum number of participants: from four to eight.
The company noted that over the past month, the total duration of calls to WhatsApp daily was more than 15 billion minutes, which is significantly more than before the beginning of the pandemic. It is added that the app must be updated to use the new feature.
In April, WhatsApp restricted the ability to forward messages. This decision was made in order to slow down the spread of misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic. WhatsApp considered that mass mailing of messages accelerates the exchange of false information.
