China Condemns US Navy Ship's Entry Into The South China Sea
China has protested the passage of the US Navy ship Barry near the Paracel Islands in the South China sea. This was stated on Tuesday by the official representative of the southern zone of the combat command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), senior Colonel Li Huamin.
"These provocative actions by the US side are a serious violation of the relevant norms of international law, as well as China's sovereignty and security interests," Li Huaminh was quoted as saying by the South China Morning Post.
He also stressed that all actions of the American ship were fully controlled by the Chinese armed forces.
Territorial disputes in the South China sea are fought over the Paracel Islands (USA), claimed by China and Vietnam; and the Spratly archipelago (Nansha), claimed by China, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
