Activision and Blizzard were separate companies, and Ubisoft was just called UbiSoft until it was informed of Assassin's Creed, and Konami had just revealed Silent Hill 3.

Konami was apparently promoting the recently released Metal Gear Solid 2 with force and main – without the involvement of Hideo Kojima, according to the source. And Rockstar was also heavily promoting Grand Theft Auto 3, just a couple weeks ago on PC.
