Roblox has announced a number of significant changes to the platform's advertising infrastructure. The most significant one is the time when the ads will be visible to all users under the age of 13, while those that promote certain products and services are completely prohibited.
Roblox is a platform where gamers may create various gaming experiences to share with other players. Over the years, companies such as Netflix, Nike, and Mattel have also created themed experiences or objects available to all users to promote their products, such as Hasbro's Nerf Guns or the Lavazza Arena.
Following the Truth in Advertising movement's filing with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleging Roblox of not complying with advertising laws and guilty of "digital deception," many developers include advertisements without indicating that their content is sponsored.
Roblox has expanded its prohibition list, which includes, among others, NFTs and cryptocurrencies, fortune telling services, online dating sites, funeral homes, and insects, as well as by-products from these animals.
