Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, Mama June's oldest daughter, has been diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, according to PEOPLE and TMZ. Both sites have confirmed that Chickadee received her diagnosis in January after complaining of stomach pains. The cancer has been discovered in her lungs, kidney, and liver, according to HollywoodLife.
Chickadee is just 28 years old and underwent her first chemotherapy treatment back in January. In mid-February, Chickadee was in attendance for her mother's wedding to Justin Stroud in Florida. All three sisters were there (Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird, and Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon).
According to TMZ, Chickadee's family is "very hopeful" that she will survive her diagnosis. She has two daughters, Kaitlyn, 10, and Kylee, 7, who were born in 2012 and 2015, respectively. Her boyfriend, Eldrige, has also been "by her side" throughout the process.
Chickadee has had a tense relationship with Mama June over the years. She left her mother's house in 2003 after being assaulted by June's then-boyfriend, who is a registered sex offender. In 2012, the family re-started their reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
Anna told The Sun that she had never had a conversation where she said, 'Oh, my goodness,' she'd always said, "She's okay," but nothing happened. "She tries to avoid me in a way," Chickadee added.
