During a conference call for investors and analysts, studio CEO Adam Kiczynski and CFO Piotr Nelubowicz provided further information on the studio's future projects.
Kiczynski discussed the possibility of using the Unreal Engine, mentioning that the studio is working on the project, and that some developers are still learning the technology, while there are teams working with Epic Games on specifics required for CD Projekt's open-world RPGs.
By the way, Kicinski noted that both The Witcher 4 and Orion (a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077) are at the core of the studio's activities, thus it's "tough" that CD Projekt may choose not to continue developing them. He sees no danger that this will ever happen.
The Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime was "really noticeable" in the company's sales. The fourth quarter was "very good," ending as the company's second-best fourth quarter (behind the game's release) and 2022 was the second-best year in the company's financial history.
This effect on sales was evident for "many weeks," and when sales slowed, sales volume remained unchanged compared to prior to the anime's release.
The Phantom Liberty expansion's marketing campaign (which will launch in June) will be "significant," as the studio's biggest event of the year will debut. Of course, this does not compare to a marketing campaign to launch an all-new AAA game. However, company executives have declined to confirm or deny that they will be attending E3 2023 in June.
CD Projekt anticipates that the expansion will increase the main game's sales in the long run, strengthen the franchise and make it stronger long-term. This has already happened with The Witcher 3 in the past, and that's exactly what the studio expects from Cyberpunk.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and Xbox One.
