The Lords of the Fallen will have a campfire feature that was removed from Dark Souls 3 ...

A cool idea that was originally planned for Dark Souls 3 is surprisingly revisited and updated in The Lords of the Fallen reboot: campfire-style checkpoints that players may place wherever they wish.

Lords of the Fallen has relatively few checkpoints, according to HexWorks' creative director. The drawback is that only one may be planted at a time, mostly from the haunting realm of the dead Umbral, which is a mirror image of the game world, and you can't place them on your own and abuse the save or rest functions.

Lords of the Fallen helps enemies by allowing them to directly destroy them, despite the cost of creating them. And yes, resting on a checkpoint resurrects all enemies as is customary in Souls.

To ensure that your checkpoint remains safe, you'll need to scout relatively safe terrain, which sounds like a fantastic way to encourage exploration and reward the save system.

Back in 2018, a similar technique was found in Dark Souls 3's cut content, although these bonfires were more connected to corpses rather than crafting.
