In March 2017, filmmaker Stanislav Kapralov and producer Sergey Lavrenyuk began filming on the neo-noir mystical thriller. Filming took place in Kyiv, Lvov, New York, and other Polish towns.
Arthur, a New York detective, receives an unusual message from a Ukrainian university professor, whom he hasn't seen in years, and learns about the professor's alleged suicide and the hunt for his daughter Lesya. He then travels to Kyiv to investigate himself and save Arthur's own child from a teacher who played an important role in his life.
Omri Rose ("Justice League"), Elena Lavreniuk ("Coffee with Cardamom"), Valeria Karaman ("The Lighthouse"), and Andrzej Zelinsky (TV series "Vataga", directed by HBO, who played the character "The Pianist") will be introduced to the audience.
Omri Rose has been named screenwriter along with Lubomir Levitsky, who planned to assume the role of director at the start of production, and Sergei Kastornykh.
Solar Media Entertainment (Ukraine), Bow And Axe (Poland), and FishCorb Films (USA) have supported the film production through the State Film Agency of Ukraine and the Polish Film Institute. The film cost UAH 66 million, of which Ukrainian state support is UAH 22 million.
On April 20, 2023, 'Egregor' will be released in Ukrainian cinemas.
At the end of the teaser, it is noted that the tape was dedicated to actor Pavel Li and Alexander Suvorov, the director of pyrotechnic stunts who directed the film "Egregor." Both died last year while defending Ukraine.
