Gamers who are currently playing Steam PC games on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 may want to update their software by the end of 2023. According to a support article on the Steam Website, the game service will no longer support Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 versions beginning January 1 next year. The client will no longer function on those versions if it is installed.

The whole report from the Steam support article can be found here:

The reason for the drop in support is due to the platform's dependence on Google Chrome, which does not support older Windows versions, according to a recent assessment that Steam will add a few new features in the future.
