Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, may direct the X-Files reboot series ...

The X-Files will never be forgotten, according to a far-fetched alien/government conspiracy. This time, however, Mulder and Scully are not involved in a Mulder and Scully return, but rather in what appears to be a complete reboot of The X-Files, led by none other than Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Chris Carter, the X-Files' creator, revealed this during an interview with CBC's On the Coast (via Bloody Disgusting), which is not your usual outlet for major '90s franchise bombshells.

Carter said and then denied anything further, as if this was just some piece of information that would not ruin the internet.

The X-Files: Albuquerque reboot might go ahead, given the series' focus on white people in ill-fitting suits until aliens invaded them. It makes no sense that Coogler would be considered as a remounting of the series.

If this is the case, what will the outcome be? It sounds like a complete remake of the franchise that will bring it into modern times and finally leave Mulder and Scully for a new generation of conspiracy theorists and believers in the truth. Then again, maybe this isn't the truth at all, and Carter was just spitballing something that came up during a conversation with Coogler.
