IGN USA has issued a report indicating a series of official statements from the various major gaming companies regarding their possible participation at the E3 2023 event. However, who else will be absent?
EA, Square Enix, Embracer Group, Activision Blizzard, Epic Games, Take-Two, and Warner Bros. Games have not yet responded to inquiries for comment, but Sega e Tencent have announced that they will not be at E3 2023, according to IGN USA.
"We have decided not to participate in E3 2023 as an exhibitor," SEGA said. We look forward to providing further information on announced and unannounced projects in the future."
Tencent has announced that its Level Infinite division would not be at E3 2023, but that it would attend Play Days in 2022, which it "had an excellent opportunity to showcase our games to the media." I Play Days is a time-based event managed by Geoff Keighley that runs concurrently with E3.
"While we always wish we could participate in any industry conference promoting exceptional games, we have never officially attended E3 and have no intentions to do so this year," said Return Digital. However, we look forward to returning to our beloved parking lot to host a future event if the opportunity arises."
Bandai Namco has not commented on its participation at E3, but has stated that it will attend Play Days.
According to IGN USA, many businesses prefer to use the poco budget for more permanent events, such as Gamescom or the recent PAX. ReedPop is also in a worrying situation, according to the company's organizer, who has sent an internal letter claiming that Lance Fensterman, the company's president for the past 14 years, is planning to take the place of current vice president Michael Kisken.
For the time being, when it comes to Ubisoft's aforementioned defection, things do not appear to be all that promising for E3 2023.
