Three children and three adults have died in a shooting at a Christian school in Nashville.

According to local authorities, three children and three adults have died in a shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville.

A Caucasian 28-year-old from the Nashville region was shot and killed by two police officers. The suspect, who had initially been described as a woman, was later identified as a him.

The massacre occurred at a school called The Covenant. Three of the deceased kids were pupils, and three of the deceased adults were faculty members, according to Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron.

Koonce was the principal of the school, according to the official website.

The first call came out at exactly 10:13. According to Aaron, she "entered the school through a side entrance and traversed her way from the first floor to the second floor, firing multiple shots."

Nashville police released photos from the scene that evening. According to the police, the attacker gained entry to the building on the second floor and opened fire through a window on responding police vehicles.

According to Aaron, the shooter was shot in a "lobby-type area" near the school entrance, and that the gunman was carrying two assault rifles and a pistol. By 10:27 a.m., the shooter was already dead, according to the police.

Police have verified that the shooter was a former student, but have provided no information on a possible motive. Audrey Hale, a Nashville resident, was named as the shooter on Monday. Hale did not have a criminal record whatsoever.

According to Nashville Police Chief John Drake, Hale was equipped with many rounds and was "prepared for an encounter with law enforcement." He claimed the gunman made detailed plans of the school, including all of the possible exits.

Drake said the parents of the deceased children were informed.

According to a hospital representative, at least five patients were sent to Vanderbilt University Medical Center's emergency rooms. Three children and two adults were transported to the hospital in the tragic death.

According to Aaron, there were no other victims of the incident. A responding officer, he added, had been hurt by shards of glass.

A nearby family reunion facility had psychiatrists on staff.

Aaron says the Covenant School is a private school affiliated with the Covenant Presbyterian Church that offers programs for children from preschool through sixth grade on their website.
