Valve has announced the sequel to Counter-Strike 2, following several leaks and rumors. That's apparently assisting Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is reaching new heights in terms of player numbers.

The tactical shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has become more well-known over the last decade. The release of the Valve sequel Counter-Strike 2 a few days ago also aided the classic.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has established a new all-time high, according to the SteamDB. On Sunday, a whopping 1,519,457 players registered at the same time in the tactical shooter via Steam. The title had already broken the magical 1.5 million player mark on Saturday.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is second in Steam's maximum number of simultaneous players, although it is still ahead of the shooter classic in terms of number of gamers at the same time.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been wildly popular even before Counter-Strike 2 was announced. The previous total of more than 1.4 million players at the same time was only recently broken – the announcement of the sequel provided yet another boost.
