Researchers hacked Tesla's security system twice as part of the Pwn2Own information security conference this week in Vancouver. This included a $100,000 reward for this.

Tesla has been doing since 1999 research to improve the software used in its electric vehicles. They have presented a paper at the Pwn2Own conference in which they conducted a successful attack on the Tesla security system twice.

Specialists from Synacktiv conducted a successful time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) attack on Tesla Gateway. This type of vulnerability allows you to bypass the security check system by using the time interval between checking the resource for security and its use. After performing a security check, the researchers gained root access to the Tesla system and took full control of the attacked electric vehicle.

The Model 3 infotainment system was hacked in the second successful attempt by Synacktiv specialists via Bluetooth. Throughout the year, the Synacktiv team members achieved 53 Master of Pwn points and received a total of $ 530 thousand in rewards.
