Following a cancer battle, Andrew Lloyd Webber was shocked by his son Nicholas's death ...

Andrew Lloyd Webber paid tribute to his son Nicholas in an emotional statement after his death on Saturday, March 35. The 74-year-old Phantom of the Opera singer said in a statement to PEOPLE magazine that his beloved elder son Nick died of gastric cancer.

Andrew shared that his son was battling cancer after he missed the premiere performances of his brand new musical Bad Cinderella in March. "My entire family is wishing that Nicholas would recover." he said in a statement to BroadwayWorld. "He is bravely fighting with his indomitable humor, but at the moment my heart is with him and the family."

The cast and crew of Bad Cinderella sent their condolences to Andrew and the Lloyd Webber family following Nicholas's diagnosis in a tweet.

Nick was a composer, having scored films such as The Last Bus and the TV series Love, Lies, and Records. He also composed the music for the musical Fat Friends: The Musical, as well as a 2016 adaptation of The Little Prince.

Nicholas was Andrew's second child and his oldest son. He married Sarah Hugill, whom he married from 1971 to 1983, and they had a daughter Imogen, 45. After the divorce, Andrew married Soprano Sarah Brightman, who went on to star in many of his musicals, including Phantom of the Opera. Nicholas was Andrew's second child and his oldest son. Nick's cancer diagnosis came just months after Andrew's signature show Phantom of the Opera would end its run on Broadway in a video in September 2022. The show later announced that it would extend its run in New York due to the increase in demand in November.
