A Belgian Shepherd is also a member of this particular dog breed, and they share similar physical traits with the German Shepherd.
Dexerto claims that five different dogs of the same breed were used to portray the canine, and actor Shamier Anderson elaborated on their roles:
Sofia, played by Halle Berry, had two Belgian Malinois as well as five dog actors (unconfirmed if they were the same dogs) named Santana, Tai, Sam 7, Boyca, and Ikar.
Does the dog slay?
In John Wick: Chapter 4, the dog does not die, and does manage to assist in some nasty takedowns during the chapters.
Following the events that set up the hitman's rampage, this is good news, but what happened to the other dogs that followed?
The film ends with John rescuering an unnamed pitbull that stays out of harm's way for the next two films under the protection of Lance Reddick's character, Charon.
The two dogs from Sofia in Parabellum also survived the shooting. Berrada shot one dog, but it was protected by its bulletproof vest.

In the first film, Chad Stahelski almost ended the dog's death.
The death of a dog is a unique emotion audiences wanted to support, but filmmaker, Chad Stahelski, previously revealed that the puppy's death was soon removed from the first John Wick film.
Stahelski was asked if the protagonist in a film he had a dog would have reached new heights during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
