Daigo Murasaki's light novel The Demon Lord from 2099 will be adapted for anime. This was revealed at AnimeJapan 2023, when a teaser image depicting the main character Veltol Velvet Velsvalt against a cyberpunk city background was unveiled.

The official website for the anime project states the synopsis as: Shinjuku City, a futuristic city that has reached its full potential, ruled by legendary Demon King Veltol.The great wealth of the gigantic city-state and the terrible darkness hidden behindTo rule the new world, the Demon King moves into the future!

Fujimi Shobo's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint published the Demon Lord 2099 light novel in January 2021. It then received a manga adaptation by Kiiro Akashiro, which began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten's Shonen Ace Plus.

The first volume of Yen Press is described as: The cyberpunk city of Shinjuku, adorned with neon signs, magnificent skyscrapers, and cutting-edge technology. This is the place where legendary Demon Lord Veltol spends his second century, having conquered this region at unprecedented heights.
