When Selena and Hailey posed for photos together at a party in October 2022, she denied there was any disagreement between them; she said she'd even spoken to Selena since marrying Justin Bieber, whom Selena dated from 2011 to 2018.
Selena posted a TikTok video in which she captioned her eyebrows: "This was an accident? " Kylie Jenner shared a photo of herself and Hailey on a FaceTime conversation, which viewers believed they were shading Selena.
Selena and Kylie both denied any disagreements. When Selena commented on a TikTok video of Hailey, the controversy erupted. She then went into the comments section to defend Taylor, her long-time best friend.
Fans have been going out of their way to find more reasons to pit Hailey and Selena against one another. For weeks, social media has been flooded with fan theories about times when Hailey supposedly lashes out against Selena. This was the first time Selena addressed the situation directly.
