What is the background of Season 1 of The Ark?
The Ark is the latest Syfy Original set in space, following the remaining crew of an Ark One spacecraft. These survivors are assigned to become the best versions of themselves to stay on track and survive after an unfortunate event.
Each of the episodes follows a similar structure, with a "issue of the week" to contend with, whether it be water shortages, hallucinations, or just big ol' battles between the crew members. Will our group make it through the other side in one piece?
Has The Ark been renewed for a second season?
The Ark hasn't been renewed for a second season at the time of writing. That could very well be the case if the show does well for Syfy.
Before renewing a program, Syfy and other streamers assess a number of factors, including how many people initially view it and the week-to-week drop-off rate. For cable, those statistics are readily available, and judging by the week to week statistics, The Ark has been fairly consistent.
According to the above statistics, the show currently attracts around 350,000 views per week on TVSeriesFinale. It's quite comparable to what The Mandalorian season 3 is doing on Disney Plus.
Annullations or renewals on some shows are quick, but other times, Syfy may take months to make a decision on a show's future.
The Ark has been a disaster both on the critical and audience front. Many have complained of the poor CGI, the poor execution, and the acting, among others.
Given Syfy's history with space-bound series (The Expanse and Dark Matter, to name a few), we anticipate this show to be terminated for a second season.
