Donald Glover made a lot of internet users angry when they discovered his remarks about Dominique Fishback, who plays Swarm star Ben Lucretia. She admitted to intentionally not preparing her for her role and encouraging her to behave like an animal.
"I kept telling her, "You aren't regular people." In a recent interview, the 32-year-old actress told Vulture that she "can't find the humanity in your character." She plays Dre, a young woman who is destined to be like Beyoncé and allows her fandom to make her violent.
"She was really lost a lot of the time," Glover said of Fishback, adding that he advised her to "think of [her role] more like an animal" rather than "her performance to be brutal."
"It reminds me of how I have a fear of dogs because I'm like, 'You're not looking at me in the eye, I don't know what you're capable of,' he said.
Although rapper Childish Gambino believed there was a directorial route to his madness, internet users did not see things the same way.
One user wrote that watching the trailer had already given me a weird feeling that made me hesitant, but then when I realized that DG was one of the designers, it made sense. "And then reading this....pheeew that man is a total dogma and the more praised he will be."
After hearing what donald glover said in that interview like jesus christ, another user commented that she would not want to see the rest of swarm again. Specifically, one user discussed Dre's tendency to appear autistic, and how that can be harmful to those who are coping with the disorder.
Dominique Fishback, Chloe Bailey, Nirine S. Brown, and others star in Amazon Prime Video Swarm.
