According to TechCrunch, Duolingo, the makers of the popular language learning app with 500 million users, is developing a music app.
Duolingo has posted a job opening for a freelance music and curriculum consultant, but it is no longer accepting applications for the latter.
According to the job listing, the application will teach music theory basics by using popular songs as well as the participation of teachers.
Duolingo maintains several additional initiatives. The Duolingo English Test, established in 2014, is an online certification exam that tests language proficiency. Duolingo ABC is a free English learning app for children aged 3 to 6. In October 2022, the company announced Duolingo Math, its first app that goes beyond learning languages.
Duolingo's paid subscriber base grew by more than half last year, and its total revenue increased by about $369.5 million in 2022.
The purpose of the new music application isn't yet clear, and Duolingo hasn't commented yet.
