Although reviews of Microsoft's intention to buy Activision Blizzard continue, the Xbox manufacturer believes Sony has plenty of time to develop a competing product.
After Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, "Call of Duty" will be released on PlayStation consoles for at least ten years more, as long as Sony accepts the ten-year contract, which has not been disclosed.
What happens after these ten years? While additional delivery may be the subject of future agreements, Microsoft assumes that Sony will have established a competitor shooter by then.
The CMA asked Microsoft whether a ten-year period was sufficient for Sony as the leading publisher and console platform to experiment with alternatives to CoD.
The Xbox manufacturer continues: "The 10-year warranty will extend into the next generation of consoles [unkenntlich gemacht]." In addition, the practical impact of the remedy will extend beyond the 10-year period, since games downloaded in the last year of the remedy will be playable throughout the console's life (and beyond, thanks to backwards compatibility."
If Call of Duty were no longer available on PlayStation, Sony would be unable to take it on board with regulators. Many other companies have also failed to catch up with the traditional brand.
Features of the PS5 should be supported.
Microsoft has indicated that when Call of Duty titles will be released for PlayStation consoles, full customization for custom features would be provided. Examples include the haptic feedback.
The hint may be a recent email from the UK Competition and Markets Authority, in which Microsoft gives the impression that all future Call of Duty titles released on PlayStation consoles will retain the unique PlayStation features, even if the PlayStation version is superior as a result.
Microsoft has every incentive to develop games that provide excellent PS5 features such as haptics and future consoles in order to increase sales on the platform, according to the company.
Sony claimed earlier this month that if Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard, it might release inferior or even obsolete Call of Duty titles on PlayStation consoles.

The following months will provide an outline of how the takeover will proceed. The US Federal Trade Commission's lawsuit against the transaction is still ongoing. While the outcome remains unclear, the takeover is now widely believed to be backed by concessions.
